Recommend you print out a copy of this page, as these are the only instructions needed for operation of the EDR software.

INSTALLATION:
To install EDR, just click on the "setup.exe" icon in this folder. The program will automatically install, creating a "Reader" folder on your hard drive. A pop-up window will appear that will give you a shortcut icon that you will want to move to your desktop.

If you have problems installing EDR, we suggest you use the SAFE MODE installation procedures described in your Window's manual. (You may also visit our web site for paraphrasing of the "SAFE MODE" installation; http://www.digifax.com/edr/faq.html ), and any other FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions.

UPGRADING:
If you are upgrading from an earlier version, you will need your password that was assigned when you first registered. Then install as above. The program will replace any earlier version. Then remove the old short cut icon, and replace it with the new one that will appear during installation. You will need to re-enter your password the first time you use it. Your logo and address information will be automatically used in the current version.

PROPERTIES:
EDR is Windows 3.1x and Windows 95 compatible. EDR is able to read the following embroidery formats:

The EDR software is also able to move Melco.CND so you can move them from your floppy disk to your hard drive, but will not display or convert condensed files.

All embroidery formats are auto-recognized. EDR can read floppy disk files and convert non-condensed designs to six DOS supported formats for saving to your hard drive:

Files stored on the floppy disk (left side of the screen) or on the hard drive (right side of the screen) may be selected by LEFT button of the mouse.

Selected (non-condensed) design files may be seen individually or as thumbnails. Selected files may also be printed on printer or saved into bitmap file .BMP. Selection of these functions is made by RIGHT button of mouse after selection of files - pop-up menu will appear. Double clicking with left button of the mouse on file (left or right side) causes preview of the design. Placing of the cursor on the button "Open the file" shows hint with supported formats list.

There are three types of print output:
1). Print File
2). Print File Documentation
3). Print Thumbnails

--PRINT FILE, lets you print a single design full page with cross lines to show starting point.

--PRINT FILE DOCUMENTATION, lets you print a single design, with complete running information, including thread consumption, running sequence and Histogram, with the stitch number where a color change is to take place.

--PRINT THUMBNAILS, lets you print all small (thumbnail) images of all designs on the disk. Includes file name, stitch count and size information

PRINT FILE DOCUMENTATION; may be completed with LOGO and ADDRESS of owner. File LOGO.BMP with picture (width: 400, height: 145 or other proportion) of logo must be in the same folder as file READERW.EXE. File ADDRESS.TXT containing address of owner and other information must be in the same folder as file READERW.EXE. Files LOGO.BMP and ADDRESS.TXT are created by owner, they won't be present in READER folder after installation of EDR.

Saving images of files (documentation or thumbnails) into bitmap .BMP file is made by selection "Print To File" check box in Print Dialog. User must select "Save file", "Save file documentation" or "Save thumbnails" function in pop-up menu. The design file that is selected will automatically be saved as a .BMP file. A dialog box will pop-up allowing you to choose where you want to save the .BMP file.
